Patient Testimonials

It's noticeable that as I have regained the correct walking style, my other issue knee has improved significantly, to the point that I am no longer aware of it. I’m convinced this is due to me no longer depending on this joint as much. If you can relate to any of the above and are thinking of this procedure, then I would recommend it without hesitation: Sean can reference enough examples that help reassure that the probability of success is high and in him you are in experienced hands.
It is not an understatement to say that Mr O'Leary has changed my life. After suffering with pain for over 4 years which meant giving up running and seeing numerous different consultants, I was referred to Mr O'Leary.

I mentioned the redness on my shin and was told to speak to the nurse on monday as it looked like cellulitus. It was suggested I massage the shin with moisturising cream and press hard on the skin to help stop the fluid gathering. At this point I was willing to try anything.
I wanted to write to thank you and update you on my progress since you did a tibial osteotomy on my left leg in December 2015. I am very happy with the outcome of the procedure as i do not have the pain i had previously and i am able to walk quite a distance without too much discomfort.
Week 3
Managed to bend leg enough to get in the bath
Swell has subsided
Pain killers still every 4/5 hours
Exercises easier

I injured my knee many years ago playing volleyball. Since then I have had four separate operations to fix my cruciate ligament and repair torn cartilage in my knee.

I went to see Sean O’Leary after my knee was giving way when playing football. Sean quickly informed me that my knee was in a very bad way and would need an Osteotomy, which would involve three operations. He explained what would need to be done and we began the process. Sean also informed me that I wouldn’t play football again. This became a running joke as I informed him I would recover and I would play again!

I had three knee operations recently with Sean, the major one being an Osteotomy in December 14. I was recently in the Circle Hospital taking my friend for an ultrasound after he had neck surgery and i bumped in to Sean. He was pleased to hear I have returned to football and asked me if I could write a paragraph or two on my surgery and return to sport.

This lady had an HTO under Mr O'Leary on Friday, she just wanted to say it's brilliant, she's had no pain and she is walking unaided around the house, she has a bit of discomfort around her hip, but apart from that is over the moon with her surgery.

My first full knee replacement, on 2 Feb this year, took at least three months before I felt remotely comfortable and, even now, remains a bit insensitive to the touch. By contrast, following my second, a unicompartmental knee replacement (by Mr O’Leary), I was discharged from the hospital in a little over twenty four hours (compared with the week of my previous incarceration) and I was walking without any form of aid within that week.

I had the inner (medial) compartment of my right knee replaced in October 2015 at the Circle Hospital Reading. My surgeon was Mr Sean O'Leary. I was recommanded to use Mr O'Leary by my physiotherapist and I paid for the surgery. I was 64 at the time.

Mr Sean O'Leary gave me back my life.
I knew I needed a replacement knee so I decided to self fund my operation.
I chose Mr O'Leary because of his experience, qualifications, the fact that he specialised in
knees only and also because he lectured on the subject.
I was not disappointed in my choice. I have had a full right knee replacement and he has done
an excellent job and given me back my life. I cannot thank him enough.
I have no hesitation in recommending the professionalism and skill of this consultant/surgeon.
Thank you for everything Mr O'Leary.

I was in the Circle Hospital earlier in the month attending a pre-assessment appointment for a total shoulder replacement by Mr Harry Brownlow. I saw you descending the staircase to the atrium and was motivated to stop you and thank you for the knee replacements you did for me in October 2013 & January 2014 but understandably you looked as if you were on a mission and I was loath to interrupt you.

Just a line to thank you for your expertise in filling my new knee. I was amazed at the tiny neat -- when the dressing came off. I was expecting one twicw as long possibly keloid as i still have one of those from a broken achilles tendon 30 plus years ago.
